The Critical Race Theory Debate Argument in Schools and Other Matters

Harvey’s Introduction

This article is a copy of most of the Weekend Jolt in National Review. The main part of the article takes on the progressive narrative about the resistance taking place all over the country against teaching Critical Race Theory – to wit, that protestors are really racist who don’t want schools to teach black history and the evils of slavery. Hence, in their view, this resistance is further evidence of racism. It’s nonsense, but that want stop them from lying and making this straw man argument.

Weekend Jolt does another task for me and that is it identifies other articles that might be interesting to National Review readers. Its a good list for you to review on various topics.

Cities Can Expect the 2020’s Violent Crime Spike to Continue

Harvey’s Introduction

You may have read articles that the increase in crime rates over the last year represent a spike and not a trend. Rafael A. Manguel, director of legal policy at the Manhattan Institute, argues effectively that this thinking is whistling in the dark and the increase is here to stay unless policies governing policing and incarceration change. Its a scary prognosis, but unfortunately is probably right.

Woke Schooling: A Toolkit for Concerned Parents

Harvey’s Introduction

This is an excellent piece of work by the scholars at Manhattan Institute of what is happening in our schools under the banner of eliminating racism – woke schooling. It is in two parts: the first defines all the major ideas in critical race theory and how each idea plays out in school curriculums and the second describes the steps parents can take to deal with this pernicious ideology. If you like you can download the workbook in PDF format and print it.

Facebook Censorship in the Guise of Fact Checking

Harvey’s Introduction

Tierney does a particularly good job of critiquing Facebook’s “fact-checking”, which is really a form of censorship. He shows good examples. If Facebook wants to censor(let’s not confuse what they do with fact checking), they should be treated legally as publishers and be subject to the same laws as other publishers.

Harvey’s Introduction

Remember when Trump’s claim of the virus being loosed on the world by a lab in Wuhan, China was called a “debunked conspiracy theory” and dismissed by establishment scientists, the U.S. press and mainstream media and blocked from Twitter and Facebook?. Why that reaction? Well, I think it was because it was claimed by Trump and Trump could never be right.

Harvey’s Introduction

McCarthy writes another clear, incisive essay on how race demagogues vilify police and “white privilege” as the racial problem in our country.

Why Maxine Waters Wanted a Mistrial for Derek Chauvin

Harvey’s Introduction

I don’t know what Maxine Waters was thinking when she attempted to intimidate the jury in Minneapolis at the Dennis Chauvin trial or if she was simply bored and wanted to appear on TV, but she certainly helped the defense in its argument for a mistrial. If its granted, you can guess that we will see an outbreak of violence across the country, with the attendant rioting and looting. If he is not granted a retrial, you can be sure BLM will take it as a clear signal that jury intimidation is alive and well. To me BLM and its supporters are the mirror image of the KKK and their intimidation tactics.

How Much Ruin Do We Have Left?
